Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in Mahwah, NJ

FAQ: Do I need an attorney if I just want to settle the case?

If you’ve been injured in an accident through no fault of your own, you may be offered a quick settlement by the insurance company. It can be tempting to accept that settlement, since it represents cash you may desperately need that you can have right now. As a result, you may not think that you need an attorney. However, before you accept any settlement it is critical that you speak to an experienced personal injury attorney. The insurance companies are always looking to pay you as little compensation as they possibly can. An attorney can help you understand whether any settlement offer you receive represents fair compensation in your case; an attorney can also negotiate with the insurance companies to potentially better the compensation that you receive.

FAQ: How much is my case worth?

When you’ve suffered personal injuries in an accident that wasn’t your fault, one of your first questions may be how much compensation you can receive for your injuries. The value of your case is largely dependent on multiple factors, including the amount of your economic damages, the severity of your injuries (which affects the amount of your non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering and lost quality of life), and the strength of your legal case.
