About Teaneck, NJ
Teaneck is a township located in Bergen County, New Jersey. A suburb of New York City, Teaneck is the second-most populated municipality in Bergen County. The origin of Teaneck’s name is unclear, but is believed to possibly come from a Lenape word meaning “the woods”, the Dutch phrase “tiene neck” that means “neck where there are willows”, or other various English words. Teaneck was formed in 1895 from portions of the now-defunct Englewood Township and Ridgefield Township, along with portions of Bogota and Leonia. Portions of Teaneck were later transferred to Overpeck Township. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington and the Continental Army retreated from New York City by crossing the Hackensack River in Teaneck. Lying at the intersection of several interstates and highways, Teaneck began experiencing massive growth beginning in the 1920s.
Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in Teaneck, NJ
You should never post about your personal injury case on social media or any other public forum. The insurance companies and defense lawyers are always looking for evidence to use against you in your personal injury claim, such as statements that could be interpreted as admissions of fault for your accident or injuries, or evidence that you are not as seriously injured as you claim, like photos of you being active or traveling. It is best to keep a low profile on social media and limit your conversations about your personal injury case to your attorney until your claim is resolved.
If you are thinking about accepting the settlement offer made by the insurance company, you may decide that you don’t need to hire an attorney. However, it is always preferable to speak to an experienced personal injury attorney before accepting any settlement offer. The first settlement offer you receive from the insurance company is unlikely to fully compensate you for your damages and is likely not the maximum amount of compensation the insurance company may be willing to offer. A personal injury attorney can review any settlement offer you receive and advise you as to whether it represents fair compensation; an attorney can also negotiate on your behalf to get you the best possible settlement offer.
