About Orange, New Jersey
The City of Orange is a municipality in Essex County, New Jersey, in the United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township was home to 30,134 people. Orange Township was established on November 27, 1806, by an act of the New Jersey Legislature, from a portion of Newark Township. Parts of the township were taken on April 14, 1834, to establish the defunct Clinton Township. On January 31, 1860, Orange became a town again. Pieces of the city were taken to form Fairmount, East Orange Township, West Orange Township, and South Orange Township. On April 3, 1872, the city of Orange was reincorporated. More than a dozen of Essex County’s municipalities would later switch to township status in order to increase their per-person allocation of federal money under revenue-sharing rules. There were already eleven other municipalities in Essex County, thus in 1982 the city became one of only four to vote in favor of changing its status to that of a township. The city was named after either King William III of England or Prince William IV of Orange.

Dog Bite Injury Claims in the City of Orange: Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover my dog bite injury?
In most cases, you will receive compensation from the dog owner’s homeowner’s or renter’s insurance. Injuries sustained as a result of a dog bite fall under the category of “premises liability claims,” as the dog is considered the owner’s property. The owner of a building or other structure has a duty to take reasonable precautions to ensure that visitors to their property do not sustain harm.
Many times, the owner of the animal will try to negotiate a settlement with you, offering a pittance to cover your medical expenses. By doing this, they can avoid contacting their insurer. If you’ve been hurt by a dog bite and have been offered a settlement that seems too good to be true, think twice before accepting it. Once a settlement is reached, it may be too late to seek further financial recompense. If you’ve been injured, you should see a lawyer before accepting any financial settlement.
