A 33-year-old woman was killed after the sedan she was driving was hit by an SUV being driven by a 38-year-old man on Jan. 3 around 6:20 p.m. Police say the woman ran a stop sign while driving east in Galloway. The man was driving south when the two cars collided and went off the road before coming to a stop. Two passengers in the sedan were taken to ARMC City Division for treatment of serious injuries. A passenger and the woman driving the sedan had to be removed from the car by workers from Pomona Fire Company. Both drivers were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division, where the female driver was pronounced dead. The male driver was treated for minor injuries. Police were still investigating the accident at the time of the report. There was no information given regarding whether driver impairment or distracted driving played a role in the crash. After the accident, a section of the road was closed for two hours while debris was cleared and the vehicles involved in the accident were removed. Those who suffer injuries in a car crash may have cause for legal action. A personal injury lawyer may be able to help a car accident victim obtain compensation to pay for medical bills or to make up for lost wages if injuries keep a victim out of work. In the event that an individual dies in an accident, the victim's family may be able to file a wrongful death claim. This may make it possible to win compensation for final expenses or punitive damages that hold a driver financially responsible for his or her negligence.
