The train nearly obliterated the station. One quick look at the video and it is obvious there is severe structural damage. With our close proximity to New York, we New Jerseyans have had our share of tragedy and disaster. But now Hoboken has been hit hard. Very hard. As yet, there is still no explanation for what happened. Reports, one by the New York Times, indicated that well over 100 people have been injured, some critically. Many people have already been pulled from the wreckage of the train, which went over the bumper block and crashed through the station before landing in a waiting area. Current reports This morning, CNBC reported that there had been three fatalities and more were expected. That number has now been revised to only one fatality. At this point, the crash is believed to have been caused by operator error, but this is only a preliminary finding-more details will come with the ongoing investigation. Initial reports state that the train did not slow down as it entered the station. CNBC further reports that an FBI source indicated that the crash was being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board. This indicates that terrorism may be suspected.
