Motorcycle benefit ride raises funds for New Jersey relief effort

Superstorm Sandy ravaged the shores of New Jersey with its strong winds and heavy rain. Even though a storm can bring damage and destruction, the silver lining is that some communities band together in a way that they never had before. New Jersey residents have showed their strength and generosity in the face of adversity. A group of motorcycle riders recently showed support for their community in a benefit ride. Each cyclist paid a minimum of $25 to ride in the event called the Poker Run. Registration began at 10:00 in the morning and the first group of riders left by 11. The benefit was held by the Christian Motorcycle Association. The riders who participated in the event got a meal and were dealt a poker hand, the one with the best hand won $100. The meal and the chance to win may have provided a little perk, but the hours they donated and the funds that were raised went a long way for the relief effort in the area. Those motorcycle riders put the care of their community in their sights, and yet many drivers fail to do the same for them. Many drivers fail to take the necessary care to look left and right to keep motorcycle riders safe. The civil court process provides relief for the motorcyclists injured by another driver's failure to pay attention to those they share the road with.
