New Jersey man arrested for drunk driving, weapons after crash

A New Jersey man faces drunk driving and weapons charges after he allegedly caused a multi-vehicle crash at a traffic light on Oct. 8. Three people were injured in the accident. According to the Egg Harbor Township Police, the man was speeding in his 2008 Mercedes Benz on Black Horse Pike at around 7:45 a.m. when he rear-ended a 2014 Ford Focus as it slowed for a red light at the intersection of Fire and Farmington Road. The collision caused a chain reaction of crashes with three other vehicles waiting at the light, including a TriCare Ambulance carrying members of the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad. Authorities responding to the scene suspected the man, who lives in Lakewood, was under the influence of alcohol. They also allegedly discovered a 9mm handgun with hollow-point bullets in his possession. He was taken into police custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, assault by auto, failure to maintain his lane, receiving stolen property and three weapons charges.
