New Jersey woman seriously injured in swimming pool accident

We've written in the past concerning swimming and swimming pool accidents. As if to emphasize the seriousness of such incidents, a 32-year old woman from Harrington Park suffered severe spinal cord injuries as the result of a diving accident in a swimming pool. The injured victim was teaching her 6-year old daughter how to dive in swimming pools when she subsequently struck her own head against the bottom of the pool. The woman's husband rescued her, the woman was then taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, and she was next taken by helicopter to a hospital in Newark, New Jersey. It was determined that she had a broken neck and several broken vertebras, and doctors inserted metal plates during surgery. She has no movement from the waist down. Family and friends are engaged in various fund raising activities in hopes of raising a minimum of $100,000 to help with medical expenses. Unfortunately, $100,000 likely would not be enough to cover these types of medical expenses, and the victim will likely still require a lifetime of care. The victim is a mother of three, and her middle daughter has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Because of the victim's injuries, the three daughters will lose much of the care and services that their mother could have provided if such an accident had never occurred. Spinal cord injuries are devastating, and there's no end of costs that will be incurred because of such injuries.
